Bermuda Beaches
Where Pink Is Perfect

Pink sand beaches are relatively rare, so it's amazing to find Bermuda is literally surrounded by them--to be precise 75 miles (120 km) of them.

Bermuda's pink sands owe their striking color to small, dark red skeletal animals that grow on the coral reefs, among the world's northernmost reefs. (See Bermuda Top 5 Pink Beaches)

Bermuda's strikingly beautiful pink sand beaches are are used for virtually everything--body surfing, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, walking, jogging, horseback riding and just plain sunning. (See Why Bermuda Beaches Are Pink)

Despite their universal attraction, many beaches are bordered by great rock formations that turn them into small semi-private coves just large to accommodate several families.

Bermuda Beach Access

Bermuda's pink sand beaches are world famous, but some of the best are privately owned and off limits except to hotel guests and cruise ship passengers with special arrangements. (See Bermuda Hotels with Beach Access)

Beach Concession Stands

A small number of public beaches have a snack bar with drinks and snacks but most do not. Vans parked near the beach are the main concessionaires, renting kayaks, body boards and masks, fins and snorkels.

They may also have rental umbrellas and chairs - a good thing if you don't have a tan and need time to become accustomed to the bright sun and glare from the water.

The more remote the beach, the less likely they are to have concession stands or changing rooms. But the chance for a private family getaway is worth it. Besides, you can bring your own food and drinks. Just no glass!

Lifeguards and Beach Regulations

They are stationed in only a handful of locations. Between May 15 and October 31, lifeguards are stationed at Horseshoe Bay. From May 24 to Labor Day life guards are daily at John Smith’s Bay, Clearwater Beach and Turtle Bay from 10 am to 6 pm.

All other public beaches are unattended.

Resorts with private beach access often have their own lifeguard, beach cafes and restrooms
