After Hurricanes Irma and Maria

Hurricanes Irma and Maria damaged hotels on a number of Caribbean islands that will be repaired quickly but other resorts may be closed for the 2017-2018 season. Read the latest updates for the 11 islands that suffered the worst hotel and resort damage.

Anguilla suffered considerable damage: 
Barbuda is one of the hardest hit island. 
British Virgin Islands also have considerable damage. 
Dominica experienced severe damage. 
Puerto Rico resorts will need time to recover. 
St. Barts hotels that suffered damage are working to reopen. 
Sint Maarten was badly damaged. 
St. Martin, which shares the same island as Sint Maarten, also experienced significant damage.  
U.S. Virgin Islands  The government provides continuous updates about hotels on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix.  

Some beachfront hotels on other islands also were impacted by Hurricanes Irma or Maria. Check the status of the resort you’re considering on the hotel’s website or, better yet, call the resort.
