Samana Peninsula
Samana Beaches

The beaches of Samana easily rank among the finest in both the Dominican Republic and the entire Caribbean.

Yet relatively few people know about them, much less visit them. That will slowly change now that Samana has its own international airport near the little village of El Catey, 5 miles west of Sánchez.

Thanks to a new road from the airport to Las Terrenas that twists and turns up and over the mountainous peninsula, drive time is now a short 30 minutes Las Terrenas, 40 minutes to Samana City and the Port of Samana, and 60 minutes to Las Galeras.

Las Terrenas - Samana's most popular beach

Playa Bonita - Small, idyllic and with few people so far

Cayo Levantado - A popular cruise ship stop just off Samana City

Playa Las Flechas - Small picturesque beach with a unique history

Playa Las Galeras - The beach at the end of the Samana road

Playa Rincon - Rated by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the world's 10 best beaches
