Ferry Point Park, St. George's

Located on Ferry Reach Road, St. George’s, the 63-acre Ferry Point Park is a rare rural open space on this well developed island.

A very popular camping spot for locals in summer, the park also features walking trails, sheltered swimming, picnicking and fishing.

Also included in Ferry Point Park is a Martello Tower, a popular defensive style for fort built by the British in several countries.

These squat, round towers had thick masonry walls designed to endure cannon fire. Becasue of their height, the towers were the perfect platform for a single heavy artillery piece which could turn an easy 360° arc on the flat roof.

The tower is open 10 am - 2 pm in the summer; open by appointment in the winter. Admission is free.

The park also contains the Ferry Island Fort, a magazine, historic cemetery, small lake and a lime kiln.
