Caribbean Gambling
& Casinos

As Caribbean islands and cruise ships increasingly compete for tourist dollars, many have invested heavily in casino gambling as an added incentive for to stay and play.

Casinos are located on 15 different islands and all major  cruise ship lines that sail to the Caribbean except those belonging to Disney.  Let's take a deeper look at gambling in the Caribbean.

There are over 114 casinos in the Caribbean with the largest number of casinos in the Netherlands Antilles and the Dominican Republic.  The approx. 32 casinos (they keep increasing) in the Dominican Republic are among the most visited in the Caribbean.  Part of this is due to the variety of available casino resort properties, such as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana.

For example, the Allegro Playa Dorada in Puerto Plata is located near an 18-hole golf course.  Another Puerto Plata resort, the Amhsa Paradise Beach Club & Casino, is a great choice for the entire family allowing the kids to go do their thing while their parents make some money at the tables.

Cruise ship casino gambling is also highly popular among tourists visiting the Caribbean.  Once a cruise ship reaches international waters, passengers of legal age are welcome to play in a full slate of casino games including slots, poker, blackjack, and more.

Cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival offer many perks for their gambling passengers including free drinks, and even comping part of their cruise for serious gamblers.  High limit tables are also available for those looking to make serious money.

The Caribbean is also a popular destination for poker players.  The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is held annually at the Atlantis Resort & Casino on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, which includes live festival of poker, with over 40 events.

Other Caribbean casinos spread the popular Texas Hold'em as well as other poker games and also hold weekly poker tournaments.

With 114 different casinos spreading games at all limits, tourists visiting the Caribbean either aboard ship or by staying on shore have numerous options to make big money on their vacation.

It should go without saying that anyone gambling should play only with money they can afford to lose.

Good luck at the tables! And may yours be better than mine. A tale for another time.
