Windsurfing in
St. Lucia

Windsurfing in St. Lucia is available at 2 locations on the Atlantic coast, on the east coast of St. Lucia.

The most popular site for windsurfing is the protected bay off  Anse de Sables beach near Vieux Fort. The sandy bottom is generally free from obstructions, allowing barefoot sailing.

However, after the winds have been high for several days, you may encounter swell and chop towards the center of the bay.

A Club Mistral windsurfing center, located at the beach, offers lessons, rental boards and kite surfing. Other beach facilities include two restaurants, bathrooms, loungers and beach umbrellas.

Also popular for windsurfing is Cas-en-Bas beach. It is much farther north and much less accessible, requiring a four-wheel drive vehicle. The shallow bay has generally flat water inshore and much more challenging farther out. Beach facilities are limited.

A shortie wetsuit is recommended during the winter months from December through March.
