Residency

These requirements effectively make it impossible for visiting couples to wed in St. Martin.

The bride and groom must reside in French St. Martin for at least a month prior to the ceremony.

In addition, the couple must reside on the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin for 6 months before the ceremony.

So, forget it until the law changes. As it did in St. Maarten, where it was once illegal for foreigners to marry.

Possible solution: Marry in St. Maarten and honeymoon in St. Martin.
