Residency

Technically none, but an 8 day waiting period is required after the receipt of your notarized application (see below). During that time, the application is posted for public inspection.

Get your application at least 8 days in advance of the ceremony unless it's a long pre-honeymoon period.

The marriage license can be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat. If you do not have that software, it is available free at this site: Adobe® Acrobat® Reader®.

USVI: Application for Marriage License

This form must be notarized at home and reach the Clerk of the Court office at least 2 weeks before the wedding date.

Anyone who has been divorced must include a certified copy of their divorce decree with a raised seal.

In addition, also include a letter stating the date of your intended visit, length of stay and when you'd like the judge to perform the marriage.

Required Documents

Once on island you will need to present a certified birth certificate, passport and valid photo IS, such as a driver's license.

To marry on St. Thomas or St. John: Send the application form to Administrator,Clerk of the Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands, P.O. Box 70, St. Thomas, USVI, 00804. Call (340) 774-6680 ext. 6607. Fax: (340) 777-8254

To get married on St. Croix: Write to the Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands, Family Division, P.O. Box 929, Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I., 00821. Call (3409) 778-9750.

Court hours: There is a $200 fee (no personal checks) to be married by a judge. The St. Thomas Court is available Monday through Friday; St. Croix from Monday through Thursday. Excluding holidays.

The marriage application fee is US$25 and the marriage license fee is US$25.
