Dominican Republic Beaches

Long white sand beaches, some uninterrupted for miles, are what first made the Dominican Republic internationally famous.

With the exception of coastal Santo Domingo and the mountainous Dominican cigar-growing capital of Santiago (the country's second largest city) most large cities are now becoming concentrated around the beach areas.

Every section of the Dominican Republic has notable beaches, as this list shows.

North Coast Beaches

Samana Peninsula Beaches on the northeast coast. Playa Rincon is rated one of the world's top 10 beaches by Conde Nast Traveler.

Southeast Coast Beaches including Punta Cana, Bavaro and La Romana

Santo Domingo area beaches

Southwest Coast Beaches in the remote Barahona region
