Playa Bonita
Samana Peninsula Beaches

The pot-holed dirt road out of Las Terrenas leads to the mile-long Playa Bonita immediately west of Las Terrenas.

The road parallels Playa Bonita beach most of the way, yet I see amazingly few people along this spectacular stretch of sand. I stop my auto several times to walk out onto the warm sands, thinking that perhaps the thick palms are obscuring my view of people enjoying the area.

But the trees hide nothing.

Except for a few dozen sunbathers, the sand is deserted for hundreds of yards in both directions. There just aren't that many people at Playa Bonito
. . . yet.
