However, Honduras is a Spanish speaking country, while in the Bay Islands English is dominant due to the long history of British ownership.

So, the Bay Islands are hardly representative of Honduras and its rich variety of eco-activities that include visiting Garifuna villages, mountain hiking, verdant rain forest walks and spectacular Mayan city of Copan Ruinas near the Guatemalan border.

Indeed, the archaeological site at Copan Ruinas is one of the hemisphere's finest outdoor museums.
