Cruises are not all-inclusive vacations. There are plenty of extras that can be added on, such as soft drinks and sodas.

Here are some examples of the difference between a cheap cruise line and a premium one. These items are typically available on the best ones.

Stateroom dataport & fast internet access. If you want to carry a laptop and stay in frequent contact, how new is the ship? Some like the Carnival Valor are wireless from bow to stern and the service is fast. On others, the satellite connection time is worse than the slowest dialup. Otherwise simply use the facilities on shore, which are far cheaper than aboard ship.
