Time: 1 hour round trip. Difficulty:
3. A good uphill climb in places.
Trailhead: At St. Croix's northwest tip. Follow Route
63 until the hard surface ends at concrete pillars marking the Scenic
Road West, a dirt road.
To reach the lighthouse, take the paved road uphill until you reach
a fence. Stay on the outside of it until you can cross a footbridge
and begin the steep walk to the lighthouse.
The coastal view is worth the effort. The big tidal pool down below
is called Maroon Hole.
You might want to visit the beach after you descend since the
shelling can be interesting.
